Amidst a wave of establishing schools across various settlements in the Punarwas region on Bhadra 17, 2029 BS, local elders realized the crucial need for education to secure a bright future for their children. With a visionary mindset to fulfill this need, the school was established under the name 'Durga Primary School', initially conducting classes for a few children on an open lawn.
Although classes for Grade 1 began in an open field during the initial phase, through the relentless efforts of local social workers and intellectuals of the area—including late Bishnu Prasad Bastola, Komal Adhikari, Jang Bahadur Sunar, and Rishiram Regmi—the school successfully obtained permission to operate classes 1 through 3 in 2030 BS.
With a vision of continuously upgrading the school over time, local social workers, intellectuals, and elders successfully secured approvals for Grades 1 to 5 in 2040 BS, Grades 1 to 8 in 2051 BS, and permanent lower secondary school approval in 2053 BS. Subsequently, in 2060 BS, the school received permission to run secondary-level classes and began participating in the SLC examinations from 2061 BS. Following secondary school recognition, through the tireless efforts of parents, teachers, intellectuals, and political parties to drive the school forward, permission was obtained from the erstwhile Higher Secondary Education Council to run Grade 11 in 2066 BS and Grade 12 in 2067 BS. Since then, classes for Education, Humanities, and Management streams have been continuously running up to Grades 11 and 12.
Merely establishing a school does not fulfill our responsibility. With the core objective that we ourselves bear the profound duty of keeping it alive, nurturing, and growing it, I would like to express my highest appreciation for the dedication of the social workers, education-lovers, and parents who contributed in mind, word, and deed to bring this school to where it is today.
School education should not be limited to bookish knowledge alone; we must believe in the holistic personality development, moral values, and life skills of children. Our main objective is to prepare our students for the future with a modern educational system, discipline, and creative thinking. To achieve this successfully, a mutual balance must be maintained among various aspects of school education—students, teachers, and parents.
We currently face several challenges in achieving the educational outcomes of the past, such as the lack of attractive physical infrastructure, parents' inclination towards private schools, and lower local community engagement. To overcome these, active initiatives from the school management committee, teachers, parents, and students are essential. The educational quality can be elevated through everyone's meaningful participation in state educational policies.
Finally, expressing my heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders who helped bring the school to its present state, I cordially appeal to all political figures, education-lovers, intellectuals, parents, teachers, staff, and dear students of this region to take this school to even greater heights.
